Bismillahir rahmanir raheem
SubhanAllah hasn’t time flown this Ramadan! Recently I’ve been getting a lot of questions from the sisters on my Revert to Islam Ramadan WhatsApp group about what Laylatul Qadr (The Night of Decree) is and it’s virtues. I thought the best way to describe it to them would be to send them all a link to a YouTube video.
So, my first YouTube fav this week comes from Mufti Menk, a much beloved scholar mashaAllah on the virtues of Laylatul Qadr.
Lately, I’ve become obsessed with iced tea. I’ve hunted all over the net for recipes to try at home that I can store in my fridge and drink at iftar time. Not only is it a nice change from water, they’re hydrating and often contain real fruit if you make them yourself. This recipe is from Drinks Tube, the Food Tube sister channel.
These 3 recipes from the Domestic Goddess are also a great addition to your iced tea repertoire, click the link to check them out.
I’ve been watching a lot of videos by Sh. Saad Tasleem lately and mashaAllah I find them really refreshing! It’s easy for us to forget why Allah swt would put us through hardships when in the Qur’an He swt is described as the Most Gracious the Most Merciful. Here’s a reminder on why Allah swt puts us through hardships.
I’ve been really into soups lately, mainly because they’re quick to prepare, nutrient dense and are an easy way to up your fluid content. I found this great recipe for Tom Yum Gai (Tom Yum Chicken Soup) and it was DELICIOUS. If you don’t fancy buying all the ingredients like those shown in the video, you can also buy Tom Yum paste from supermarkets such as Wing Yip or other Chinese/Oriental food stores to save yourself the money and the trouble.
Ever wondered what happened to all the women in the Qur’an? There’s a common and very wide spread misconception that women had no bearing on the types of revelation that came down or are somehow not equal to men in Islam. Yes, Islam recognises there are differences between the sexes but in no way does it propagate a difference in terms of piety and ability to reach Jannah. Don’t believe me? Then watch Sh. Omar Suleiman explain in this episode of People of Qur’an entitled “What About Women.”
SubhanAllah, in these last 10 nights I encourage you all brothers and sisters to make the most of the last portion of Ramadan. Vary your ibaadah, increase in your istighfar (seeking forgiveness) and get closer to Allah swt (Al-Qareeb).
Wasalaam – Peace Be With You
