My 5 Favourite Things (21/08/2015)

Bismillahir rahmanir raheem

Every week I’m so surprised by how quickly Friday comes around subhanAllah. Another Jummah and another chance to get your name amongst the good records of the angels inshaAllah.

This week, I’ve been watching A LOT of vegan what I eat in a day videos. InshaAllah, from next week, I will be trying to eat a mostly plant based diet so expect more food pics on Instagram. If you don’t follow me there already, just search for ChristalBlogs and you should find me!

Every week, I eagerly await the next episode of The Beginning and the End by Sh. Omar Suleiman. This one, concentrates on Adam (as) and Dawud (as) and when Adam gave him 60 of his years because he saw him emanating noor (light). If you want to learn more about Dawud (as) you can check out my post, Dawud (as) & Jalut: Size Doesn’t Matter from the #MyAnbiya series.

InshaAllah, I’m on a journey to getting rid of all the TVs in my house. I didn’t realise how much time we spend sitting infront of it and not gaining beneficial knowledge. Instead of turning on the TV, we read books in our house and when we’re not doing that, we listen to the Qur’an. InshaAllah, I’m on a personal mission to learn more surahs and calming recitiation like this (Surah Mulk) from The Prophet’s Path, are perfect in the evening.

I rarely explore past the food and drink section on Pinterest but this week I discovered they also have quotes. I’m a sucker for a good inspirational quote and here’s one that I found this week that I also shared on Instagram. If you’ve been following my blog you would have seen this post about Dealing With Failure. This quote perfectly sums up how I feel about failure now.

#Failure is not a barrier to #success, its a spring board! #Perspective

My favourite tweet this week came from the BBC in which they highlighted the Twitter campaign #FlexinMyComplexion .

As a ‘dark skinned girl’ this campaign is close to my heart and I hope to see many more in the future. To read about my experiences with race, you can read my “Black is My Colour” posts. It’s a 4 part series and you can find the links here:

Black is My Colour 1, Black is My Colour 2, Black is My Colour 3, Black is My Colour 4.

For my last post, I thought I’d inject a bit of halal humour. I can’t remember how I found the Bearded Bros but their posts and videos crack me up! Check them out over on Facebook!

That’s another Friday Favourites done alhamdulillah! What favourites have you found this week? Share in the comments below inshaAllah.

Don’t forget, you can still vote for me to win the Most Inspirational Blog Award hosted by Muslimah Bloggers!

Voting ends August 31st and you can follow the link to take part. You don’t have to be a blogger to enter so get voting!

You can contact me on social media TwitterFacebook and Instagram if you want to feature your post in next Friday’s Favourite Things by tagging me in your posts by using either #ChristalBlogs or @christalblogs or if you just want to say hi!
