My 5 Favourite YouTube Finds (12/06/2015)

Bismillahir rahmanir raheem

Jummuah Mubarak! Alhamdulillah, Allah swt has brought us to the blessed day of Friday again which means another installment of my 5 Fav YouTube Finds. InshaAllah you enjoyed last week’s and this weeks won’t disappoint either.

I recently discovered that the Islam Channel has a YouTube page (late to the party I know) and I’ve been catching up on Women’s AM! My favourite video so far has been this one about getting to know A’isha (ra) Ummul Mumineen (Mother of the Believers). The thing I loved about this episode was how they discussed her in a realistic light and concentrated on her as a scholar mashaAllah. It’s a 2 parter so enjoy both!

One thing I LOVE is cooking videos, you’ve probably noticed. But this week’s is not from your average YouTube channel. Cooking from different cultures fascinates me, especially dishes from China and Japan. This is a quick and easy tuna and rice dish that you can make in a rice cooker if you have one or just use a pot inshaAllah.

If you’re not thinking about it already you should be thinking about Zakat. We have a luxury in the West to be able to go onto websites like the National Zakat Foundation and calculate it without any hassle but where you donate is just as important. Zakat should first and foremost be distributed locally and a masjid local to me is making it even easier. Maybe your masjid could do the same for Ramadhan.

I saw these tasty treats and thought mashaAllah, how good would these be for kids during the summer months! Finding homemade snacks for kids that are all natural can be a bit of a pain but Everyday Food has got your back and these lovelies from the Test Kitchen look amazing.

This last video from dawah organisation iERA is an important one. If you’ve been following the news up to the UK General Election and beyond, you’ll know that ‘British Values’ are making quite the waves in the water. So iERA went out on the street and asked the great British public, “What are British Values?” You may or may not be surprised by their responses!
