How to be a Goal Getter!

Bismillahir rahmanir raheem

Allah swt is the best of planners but that doesn’t mean that we can’t make plans too by His will. One of my aims for this calendar year is to become more organised and work consistently on building my brand and setting up some new ventures inshaAllah.

So how can we become goal getters together this year inshaAllah?

Before you do ANYTHING, put your trust in Allah. Nothing is done unless by His will and unless you’re trusting in Him and making dua, you won’t get very far. Seems like a given, but sometimes we forget how powerful dua is. By making dua you’re putting the ultimate outcome in the hands of the One who is capable of all things. Hold onto that!

What is your why? When I first read about alignment I thought “what a load of old rubbish” but over time I stand corrected. If you’re not aligned with what you want, how do you aim to hit the target goal?

Actions are but by their intentions so ask yourself why are you doing it, and use that to guide you through the next tip.

Write down 3-4 goals you really want to achieve this year and think BIG! Don’t be scared to put yourself out there and say what you really want.

Now split your year into quarters i.e. January to March, April to June, July to September and October to December and assign each goal to a quarter. Now use that quarter to set specific smaller goals to achieve the main goal at the end of the quarter, it’s as simple as that!

This is where your S (specific) M (measurable) A (actionable) R (realistic) T (timebound) planning comes in!

Life happens. Allah swt mentions in the Qur’an that He will surely test us. So when tests pop up, whether that’s family, work, life or health related, remember to flow like water. Be flexible. YES you’ve made a plan but don’t make yourself a victim of it.[bctt tweet=” If your goal can’t happen the way you planned it, know that it’s OK to change it.” username=”christaljoan”] Unexpected things will happen that you can’t plan for but don’t let that discourage you.

It’s too easy to set goals and and forget about them. Stick them up somewhere you can see them every morning to give yourself that added boost.

Get yourself an accountability partner. You can either choose someone who’s on the same page as you or get someone who’s your complete opposite to get a fresh perspective on your goal.

So as promised, here are my goals for 2017. I pray Allah swt makes it easy for me to achieve mine and for you to achieve yours as well, Ameen.

  1. Write my “Revert’s Guide to Islam“. More about this to come in another post inshaAllah
  2. Collaborate with more bloggers
  3. Finish writing a children’s book I started about 2 years ago (it’s been a long time coming)
  4. Plan an online conference for reverts/ those who want to gain more knowledge of the deen where they can grow and learn from other revert experiences

A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, should I tie my camel and trust in Allah, or should I leave her untied and trust in Allah?” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Tie her and trust in Allah. –  Sunan At-Tirmidhi 2517
