Life's journey: Christal Joan

Life’s Journey: Where Have I Been? What Am I Doing?

As I sit here, children sleeping (this doesn’t happen often)… I’ve finally found some time to sit down and contribute to my blog and think about my life’s journey.

This blog started out as a passion. A burning fire inside of me that I wanted to share with the world. 4 years on and thousands of hours writing later and it’s still a passion. It just now sits on the back burner until the kids and fed, washed and happy, my husband is too and I’m left with a rare moment to myself. I’ve never forced myself to write content and I never will but due to the new life that Allah has blessed me with, inevitably the content will change. Something I’ve resisted.

I stopped blogging for a long while. Mostly because I was too exhausted to function… #momlife, but partly because my writing is organic. It flows when it flows, it dries up when it dries up. But in the time that I’ve been gone, I’ve had so many experiences and it has given me more conviction to carry on telling the world about this lifestyle that we call Islam.  If you’ve followed my blog previously, you’ll know that my posts are inspired by my actual life and how I live it. It’s hard to live life when you’re behind a keyboard. Since my daughter was born, all I’ve been trying to do is soak it all in and live life. To live being a mother, wife, daughter and most importantly a Muslim.

Islam is a lifestyle and without it, I wouldn’t be married or have 2 beautiful children Allahumma barik. So you’ll not only get posts about Islam but you’ll get more posts about my life as a Muslim in general which I love to share.

Islam is EverythingLife's journey: Christal Joan

As Muslims, we don’t exist in a vacuum. As well as being Muslims we are mothers, sisters, aunties and daughters. All of these things are Islam and Islam is everything.

I look forward to sharing more of my journey with you and as this year progresses carrying you along with me as I, insha Allah, continue to live the blessed life the Almighty has given me.

Jazakillahu khayrun for your continued support and Welcome to Christal Joan!

The journey for me is the up’s and downs and struggles, it’s what makes us who we are and with Islam, it makes it all meaningful. Without Islam, for me, I would have been totally lost and the journey would not make any sense. When I first started my blog years ago it was just to provide information to students wanting to learn the Quran. But just like you I left it as life had some lessons to teach me in order for me to grow. Now my writing has changed as I include my personal experiences with Islam and the Quran. I really enjoyed your article I could totally relate.

Jazakillahu khayrun for your feedback sis. It’s funny how these little hobbies turn into something so much more for us! May Allah swt make it a positive testiment for us and not against us, Ameen

Barak Allah alaykum. Alhamdulillah, your approach resonates with me. I don’t like to force writing or behaviour. ‘Fake it ’til you make it’? No thanks. I prefer to slow down, research, develop, and make changes in flow with changing circumstances, goals, priorities, whether or not that includes writing time. But I always identify as a Muslim and a writer, alhamdulillah. <3

Alhamdulillah sis. I’m not about the fake it til I make it life lol I am what I am and it’s my journey. Faking it only takes away from the realness of my writing
